Provenance

Jason worked for me for around three years, and we're still close friends today. Not many people grow up dreaming of becoming a picture framer — it's a craft you tend to fall into, and then somehow it finds its way into your being, and you do it for life, or until something stops you, as it did for me.

Framing

This piece is framed in my range of native Australian timbers — now carried on by Scott Dawson Handcrafted on the Gold Coast. Framed in Cypress pine with an 8-ply cotton rag mount and UltraVue glass.

About Jason P Barwick

Jason P Barwick is a Brisbane-based artist, known for producing very small, limited-edition print runs of his work — he is not a prolific artist, favouring a slow, considered practice over volume. He began his career studying architecture, taking on a framing position while at university — much like my own path, framing was never the plan, but it found its way into him regardless, the way it does for so many in the craft. He completed his apprenticeship and stayed in framing, working alongside me for around three years. He still works as a framer today. Jason works predominantly in coloured pen and pencil and his works are highly detailed.
