About Ron McBurnie

Ron McBurnie is a renowned Queensland artist whose work often explores the subtleties of everyday life through a distinctive printmaking style. Educated at the Queensland College of Art, McBurnie has had a significant impact on the Australian art scene, with his works featured in numerous exhibitions and collections.

Born in Brisbane in 1957, he entered the Queensland College of Art in 1975 and moved to Townsville in 1980, later completing a Master of Creative Arts at James Cook University, where he taught for many years. He works principally in etching — zinc and copper plates, often drawn directly and outdoors — alongside relief printing, painting and collaborative artist books, and his work is held in collections across Queensland and beyond.
