I discovered this piece on Facebook Marketplace and was immediately drawn to its mid-century charm and the serene boat scene. The soft pinks and tranquil atmosphere resonated with me, prompting the decision to acquire it. The artwork was framed with a mid-century aesthetic in mind, featuring a linen slip, an oak mid-frame, and a walnut-stained oak float frame to complement the piece.

Framing

About Pierre Palué

Pierre Palué was born in Bordeaux, France, on May 13, 1920, and passed away in Chavannes on March 29, 2005. He was a French artist known for his marine and coastal scenes. Palué apprenticed under his father in the arts from a young age. During the Second World War, he joined the artillery at Vieux Brisach before being taken prisoner. He escaped with Dr. Henri Lemonon of Saint-Donat. In 1940, he followed Dr. Lemonon to Saint-Donat, who donated supplies for him to study and assist in pharmacy. He began studying drawing at Valence Art School where he became acquainted with André Lhote.
