Provenance

This piece was inherited from my grandfather, who won it in a Maryborough Art Society raffle — the original raffle ticket, dated 28 June 1997, survives with the piece. He and my grandmother (his second wife, as my biological grandmother passed away when I was a baby) travelled often with groups like Probus, and would occasionally buy or win art on these trips. This was one such piece.

About Holly Wood

Holly Wood was a pastel artist exhibiting with the Maryborough Art Society — a volunteer-run community art society founded in 1947 and still operating today from the historic Winter Garden Theatre building in Maryborough, Queensland. No independent public record of Holly Wood's practice survives beyond this piece and its raffle documentation, but the work itself speaks to a confident, observational hand well suited to capturing the quiet character of the local landscape.
