A dark, densely worked intaglio etching — a seated, hooded figure in the foreground, rendered with an almost animal-like face beneath a peaked hat, hunched forward over something held in the lap. Behind, a second, ghostlike figure stands half-obscured in a heavily textured, foliage-like ground, one arm raised. The overall tone is dense and atmospheric, built up through rich, granular plate texture, giving the whole scene a weight somewhere between folk tale and unease.

Provenance
I purchased this piece, along with "The Marathon of the Corridor," from a Half Dozen Group exhibition — long before I opened ARTIS PURA. I'd admired Jeraldine's work for a long time by that point, having first come across it in a framing shop I worked at, when a customer brought a piece of hers in, and later seeing more of her etchings at a gallery in Bangalow.
